KCOMPO is currently implementing a health program to extend health services to vulnerable people and members from the indigenous minority people known as the batwa. The purpose of coming up with this health program is to provide short and immediate health services to these people who find it difficult to access the nearest government hospital which is approximately 7 kilometers from Rukeri village.
It should be noted that this community is found in a hard to reach place, just on the foot hills of mount Muhabura and for the case of batwa, basing on their economic status, it’s difficult to get emergence services due to inability to hire cars and motorcycles, this leads to loss of lives especially for the case of pregnant mothers who are taken to hospitals using local ambulance means where people are carried on the shoulders and this takes time.
